FPT and Pertamina, Indonesia’s national oil company, have partnered to integrate AI solutions in offshore drilling and safety monitoring, marking a major step in Vietnam-Indonesia tech cooperation.

During General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to Indonesia, Vietnamese technology giant FPT signed a strategic partnership with Pertamina, Indonesia’s National Oil and Gas Corporation, to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) solutions into the country’s energy industry.

The agreement was signed as part of broader Vietnam-Indonesia science and technology cooperation, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Under this collaboration, FPT will provide AI-powered solutions to optimize efficiency and safety across Pertamina’s operations, particularly in offshore drilling and energy infrastructure maintenance.

The AI-powered system will be deployed at PHE OSES offshore platforms (Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Southeast Sumatra), where AI will analyze drone-collected data to detect leaks, structural defects, and anomalies, ensuring asset integrity.

Additionally, at PDSI drilling sites (Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia), AI will monitor compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) regulations, reducing workplace safety risks.

FPT CEO Nguyen Van Khoa emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating that with an advanced AI ecosystem, the company aims to accelerate Pertamina’s digital transformation while supporting Indonesia’s National AI Strategy 2020-2045.

He also hinted at future expansions into education, telecommunications, and smart agriculture within Indonesia, marking a broader commitment to innovation beyond the energy sector.

Alongside the Pertamina deal, FPT signed a $67 million framework agreement with KMP Aryadhana, a leading Indonesian innovation hub.
